June 17, 2022 — Of all our 28 NEW designs, above is the one that Cardies are ordering most. It happens to be the perfect lead in to this Father’s Day weekend, written as it was by the most wonderfully paternal person I know.

I’m guessing Rabbi Jeffrey Lazar never imagined adding “Contributing Cardie” to his list of distinguished accomplishments. Lucky for us that his great wife, Barbara, discovered and came to love our Passages cards. Little did she know that Jeff would come to be quoted on three of them!

Jeff is so wise and eloquent that I simply culled the messages from emails he’s written me. He’s kind enough to call to wish “Cardthartic’s Mom” a Happy Mother’s Day ❤️ and at the first sign of trouble — like the building collapse just blocks up the street from me — he makes sure to send his protective thoughts and soothing prayers my way.

As generous with the compliments as he is, like the best fathers, he can be counted on to give constructive criticism, too. For example, he told me he would not have chosen the chimp with the mirror image to go with his more-profound message, saying he would have preferred that we find a warmer pic, “maybe of two little girls.” He can also take it when I tease, “With all due respect, my friend, keep your day job.” 😉

Jeff is living proof that we may be in an industry in which women do more than 80% of the purchasing, but we have some great dad energy in this community, too. Oh my gosh, the song Phil Little wrote for his granddaughter based on our “We’re all exactly where we’re meant to be” card message, well, it shows us all how an empathic dad and sweet granddad looks and sounds!

We’ve come to know that same kind of warmth and positive paternalism in many Cardie husbands, too. Just in the past weeks alone, when the flooding on Miami Beach made the national news, Contributing Cardie Mary Morini left the message, “Larry wanted me to check and make sure you’re ok.” A day later, Contributing Cardie Nancy McGinn said, “Jim wanted me to check and make sure you’re ok.” Love that caring male energy!

Seriously, those of us lucky enough to have great dads — and some who’ve lost theirs and will always miss them terribly — we can’t have too many kind and giving men in our lives. What say we give some good love to the good guys this weekend.

You’ll see below that we curated a collection of year-round  Manly Designs. In the wise words of Cardie David Puett, “You know you’re a Cardie when you consider cards a necessary expense in your monthly budget.” Amen! And Happy Father’s Day to our Cardie Dads.
