ALT="Cardthartic Meanings of Life card about yoga and self care"

May 19, 2021 — Is it just us, or does it feel to you like everyone’s boarded a bullet train that we all hope is headed back to Normal? Rush, rush, rush. Clang, clang, clang (oh, wait, that’s a trolley :-)

What are you doing to slow down, calm your mind, strengthen your body and soothe your spirit? It was interesting to hear our Founder Jodee say that, as great as it felt to see well again after recent cataract surgery, what she saw most clearly was what a godsend Cardie Yoga is for us! The post-surgery “no bending over” rule had kept her out for a couple of weeks and she shared, “It’s amazing what a big difference this class makes in my life. After missing even a few sessions, I felt so tight and less flexible in every sense of the word.”

Hearing this made me think to mention again — especially for the benefit of those new to our Cardie community — that our FREE yoga class is open to you via Zoom MWF 1-2 PM ET.

Cardie Yoga
via Zoom MWF 1-2 PM ET
Beginners Welcome

Let me back up here and say that, for six years now, Jodee and CEO Ana have practiced yoga together three times a week with instructor Paola Villegas, whose soothing and positive voice somehow make you feel that she’s right there with you. Paola leads a gentle, easy vinyasa flow class designed to quiet the mind and build strength and flexibility. In March of ‘20 — when we all began working remotely — Ana and Jodee thought, “Let’s open this up to Cardies and bring in all kinds of good energy!” It’s been come one, come all ever since.

Cardie Madeline Stockbridge never misses as she believes, “Cardie Yoga is good for me, body and soul. Paola leads us to set an intention for the practice, then guides us through stretches and poses that challenge me. I’m so grateful to be in her amazing classes.”

“Grounding relaxation and good energy flows to and through me during Cardie Yoga,” says Contributing Cardie Nancy McGinn. “Every time I join class, I can feel the positive vibes. Or, as Paola would say, ‘It feels yummy!’” :-)

When Paola introduced herself to Ana and Jodee way back, wow, it’s got to be around 900 classes ago!, she explained, “I grew up in Argentina so, when I began teaching in the US years ago, I worried that my accent was too thick and my students would not understand me. Since then, I’ve learned that my accent is actually a benefit because it prompts everyone in the class to tune in and listen just a little more intently — always a good thing!”

You’ll see on her Cardie Profile page that Paola has either written or largely inspired seven Cardthartic cards already. Just to give you a sense of her style, she says lovely (and quotable!) things like …

“Welcome every
experience in life
with an open-hearted
sense of compassion
and acceptance.
No judgment.
Let go of resistance.
With your heart open
and mind quiet, allow a
sense of peace
and relaxation
to fill you.”

Yep, as Nancy would say, “She’s pretty yummy!”

Come join us. To attend one session or three times a week, simply hit reply to this email, drop SIGN ME UP! in the subject line, and your Fairy Cardmother will let me know to send you all the details. With only Paola on camera and mic’d, for the rest of us it’s no pressure just pleasure.

Namaste, Cardies!
