May 3, 2023 — Any educators in the family? With Teacher Appreciation Week coming right up May 8-12, let’s show them some love, shall we?! Just use promo code TEACH at checkout and a copy of the card above will be included in your order FREE to give to an educator that you admire and appreciate.
Truth be told, we would have missed this opportunity to applaud teachers were it not for Contributing Cardie Kristen Caminiti! With a masters in social work, Kristen is the visionary who created Kindness Grows Here, a not-for-profit that actively offers simply powerful ways of promoting kindness in local schools and communities. The now-international organization supports teachers with a host of resources for enacting kindness campaigns, including age-appropriate books, videos, and handouts on a variety of key topics.
Yesterday, Kristen emailed to say, “I was working on our Kindness Grows Here newsletter, and wanted to do something to celebrate educators next week.” She explained that she had created a Teacher Tribute submission form that the organization’s followers could use … she’d print whatever message of praise the person had written and send it on to the respective teacher. “I planned to tuck the printed message into one of our Kindness Grows Here ‘Thank You’ cards. BUT!” she said, “Then I thought of the beautiful ‘Educator’ card and magnet (that I am giving to each of my kids’ teachers next week) and I’m writing to ask if Cardthartic would want to partner with us?”
We said, “Count us in!” as we’re honored to support Kristen and her initiative. A bulk order of Educator cards and matching magnets are now on their way to Kindness Grows Here. As it happens, it was actually eloquent Kristen who wrote the Educator card message, inspired by a conversation she had a few years ago with her then six-year-old son Zach.
We loved the backstory Kristen shared with us. “As we drove by our local fire station, Zach asked, ‘Mama, what do you think is the most important job?’ I said, ‘That’s a great question, bud. A lot of jobs are important. Which do you think is most important?’ Given that we’d just passed the firehouse, I’d expected to hear, ‘Fire fighters!’ but, instead, he paused for quite a while, clearly thinking about it before saying, ‘Well, I guess it is teachers. Without them, no one anywhere would know how to do any job.’” Out of the mouths of babes!
Zach and his three sibs clearly have a wonderful role model mom. It’s a long and worthy story we’ll tell another day, how in 2017 Kristen followed her heart toward growing more kindness in the world. She’s since grown the organization to 26 states and four countries. If you care to learn more and perhaps support the work of Kindness Grows Here, click on the logo below and it will take you there.
As Kristen shows us so well, not all educators are in a classroom. We can learn a lot from her!

My mom spent her whole career teaching math in our local high school. Our daughter & son-in-law are educators in an American school in Lima, Peru. I read recently that principals & teachers have double the stress of other professions. I don’t doubt that. We need to support educators every day. Thank you, Jodee, for shining the spotlight on this noble & much needed profession.
To thrive a child just needs one adult to believe in them, to listen to them and to encourage them. Many of us were lucky to have more than one either in family members or teachers. However, some children only have a special teacher that fills that role. When that is the case, it is clear the difference those teachers make in the lives of our most fragile young. Teachers must remain free to teach the truth and to be compassionate without fear of reprisal. HATS off to teachers everywhere.
