Nov 15, 2023 — Many in our Cardie Community will recognize the familiar Mr. Rogers quote, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

If you are looking for fresh ways to express gratitude to the helpers in your life, click on the image above to order this lovely note card that comes a dozen per box. Fortunately, your great helpers in our Fulfillment Center pride themselves on getting orders that are placed before 2 p.m. CST in the mail the same day (so they will help make up for my lost time! I wish I’d thought to send this idea to you weeks ago).

I will place an order and use the note cards as place cards at Thanksgiving dinner. I’m imagining all those loved ones spotting their names on the little envelopes around the table, and opening them to read my messages of thanks and recognition. I know I’ll feel blessed when I sit quietly and write those notes next Wednesday night … I plan to acknowledge the ways these important people in my life help me thrive. And I’m pretty sure they’ll appreciate feeling appreciated, too!

Last week, Cardie Donna Cochran offered us an even broader sense of how these lovely little notecards might be used. While I had planned to order enough to cover my supportive neighbors, the mail carrier, my great handyman, and the caring lifeguards at our community pool, an email from Donna suggested, “You’ve created a wonderful community — thank you! — and the kindness in your Cardie Newsletters has inspired me to communicate my appreciation to other upbeat organizations whose newsletters I receive.”

Wow. It seemed incredibly above and beyond of Donna to thank us and other entities for being helpers in our own ways. She shared that she plans to send notes of gratitude to:

~ Sierra Club

~ Author Fiann O’Nuallain, who wrote By Time is Everything Revealed: Irish Proverbs for Mindful Living

~ State of Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs’ Office

How thoughtful is that?!

“Look for the helpers.” Cardies, we trust you have mirrors in the house. ❤️
