October 15, 2021 — The popularity of this card astounded us, rising as it did to the top of the chart from its start seven years ago, and staying right up there all this time. Just goes to show how much we love music! No one more than Cardie Community Manager Felicia Elenum.

It’s a bittersweet song we’re singing at Cardthartic today, as it’s Felicia’s last with us. A woman of many talents, she left teaching music just over a year ago to join us, and has done an exceptional job of getting our Creative team playing from the same sheet ever since. Almost like a composer scores a film, it was Felicia’s job to review all the great images we receive and then choose just the right messages from all those that cardies submit in order to bring those images to life. She especially loved collaborating with cardies. And whenever a new card had been composed, she’d help tell its backstory in cardie newsletters like this. With unparalleled organizational skills, Felicia sat first chair on our Creative team, always enhancing our performance.

In fact, she so improved our work flow that, when I shared her news via Skype with our graphic designer Brandon, this gentleman of few words put it perfectly, “We’re screwed.” We laughed and went on to discuss the necessary organizational changes we’d make in light of Felicia’s departure and, by the time we were hanging up a half-hour later, I was feeling so confident that we’d be fine that I didn’t see Brandon’s parting shot coming: “We’re screwed.” 🤣

Felicia at first said she felt guilty letting the team down. I assured her, “As much as you’ll be missed, Cardthartic has overcome far greater challenges in our nearly 30 years. One of the best parts of working at Cardthartic,” I said, “is that we are all doing work we’re passionate about, with and for people who share our love of cards. What an opportunity it is that Alfred Music, your dream company, has snatched you away to ‘learn, teach, play’ music. Go enjoy doing what you love most!”

Because so many contributing cardies have made a point of saying what a delight Felicia has been as a collaborator, we trust you’ll join us in sending her good energy now. We wish her much happiness at the company she has long admired for its quality music education materials and commitment to the teaching community. As for our cardie community, we will always have Felicia Elenum, Contributing Cardie!
