April 22, 2021 — Our Earth is as vital and varied as the people on it, with so much for us to appreciate, eh? Here in the US alone, how many “Wish You Were Here!” picture postcards do you suppose you’ve sent from the sandy beaches of the south, majestic mountains of the west, lush woodlands of the northeast, or gorgeous Pacific northwest?

I love taking trips back in my mind’s eye to some of the best places I’ve been — those that had me speechless and left footprints on my soul. I love feeling again as I did there and then. Can you picture yourself in your favorite places on earth?

For me, there is Colorado’s Royal Gorge, where the expanse and wildness brings me peace. I find the beauty of the gardens of La Alhambra in Andalusia, Spain breathtaking. And the Wind River Range in Wyoming will always be special to me as it’s where I proposed to my incomparable husband :)

While all those grand, sweeping vistas are amazing and will stay with me forever, I find there’s something just as magical about the local lake where I love to paddleboard and the garden that I nurture in my own backyard. But since we tend to think the world revolves around our Cardies, let me ask, what’s your personal-favorite place on the planet, and why?

In celebration of Earth Day, please share where on Earth you feel happiest and most alive. Those who follow Cardthartic likely know that our Founder Jodee is happiest sitting by great bodies of water any and every where. Our CEO Ana says she must have a pioneering heart because, for her, there’s just something about crossing the prairies of the Midwest. As much as she has loved traveling the world, Marketing Director Jayme digs her garden.

We’d all love to learn about new, special corners of the world from you. Just click on the Comments link below and write away! And to kick off this Earthy love-fest, here’s how Cardie Judy Cortner

says it feels to be in her favorite spot:

When I planted my jonquil bed
many moons ago,
I left a space in the middle
where I can lie down
surrounded by jonquils.
The aroma is thought-altering.

I sat down in the middle of
my jonquil bed on Sunday.
Took a stack of Cardthartic cards
with me, one for each of 10 neighbors
and friends, writing their name on
the corner of the envelope
so I would not forget which was which.

The jonquils are beginning
to encroach on that space.
I had to tell them,
‘Whoa, don’t take liberties!’
I left feeling gifted by
the beauty of both the jonquils
and the Cardthartic cards.
A two-for-one experience.

As the inside of our Mother Earth card says, today “May you feel the world appreciates you as much as you do Mother Earth.” Happy Earth Day, Cardies!
