August 10, 2021 — While Cardies are more often than not on the sending-end of good, heartfelt thank you cards, doesn’t it feel great to receive one?! We were so touched and gratified to read what Contributing Cardie Rosemary Tolliver wrote us yesterday morning that we thought we’d share Rosie’s words here with you.

Actually, you have very likely read and sent some of Rosie’s words yourself before! Visit her Cardie Profile Page and you’ll see she has a dozen cards to her credit now, many that are Cardie Favorites. Here’s what the ever-eloquent Rosie emailed us under the subject line: The Right Cards.

“Most times, my calendar reminds me of important dates. Often, though, it’s the names shared during Sunday worship that inspire me to go home and look through my Cardthartic stash to find the right cards. Whether it is a joy or a concern, a birthday or a death, I believe the right message will always be appreciated.

“My Aunt Betsy died recently, at 96, and the other night my grandson chose a bedtime book that had been a gift from her. Seeing her message in her handwriting inscribed inside reminded me of the many cards I’d received from her through the years. They were all signed in her beautiful script, ‘With big hugs and lots of love, Aunt Betsy.’ Because I couldn’t travel to South Carolina to celebrate her life with family, I sent this card to loved ones there. It was the right card.

“Today I sent just the right birthday card to my 70-something sister-in-law. I know it will make her laugh!

“Today’s mail will also carry this encouraging card to a friend in New Zealand who recently received a challenging diagnosis.

“Because the little girl sitting in the park on this Little Reminders card is my granddaughter, Celia, and because it’s so often the right message, some days I will carry several around with me …

“I like to give one – unsigned – as a small token of my appreciation to all the caregivers I encounter: my optometrist, nurses, beauticians. The most common reaction I hear is, ‘Oh, I know exactly who I’ll send this to!’ and it surely is my favorite.

“The Right Cards. I haven’t found the right card to send to the makers of Cardthartic cards, so instead I offer these musings as a kind of thank you note. Because of all your efforts, I can usually find several just-right cards for every occasion!”

Take care,
Rosie
