June 23, 2022 — “It’s a Boom Year for Brides and Grooms,” read the headline in The New York Times. “There will be some 2.5 million weddings in 2022 — the most since 1984.” With those happy times in mind, we just released these three new Wedding designs.

Contributing Cardie Susan Lyon has long been aware of the surge. She and her husband Kim have been invited to five weddings this summer, and son Dylan will be a groomsman in five more! More importantly, for the past year, she’s been helping her daughter Kathleen plan her wedding (which went off without a hitch last weekend 👏🏼).

We were just about to wrap up the summer release six weeks ago when this creative and resourceful mother-of-the-bride called her close card publisher-friend and said, “Jodes, could we make Kathleen & Matthew’s day even more special?!” Having six Cardthartic cards already to her credit, she then helped write the new design above. ❤️

The new design below, it originated in the very loving heart of Contributing Cardie Valeria L. Palmertree. For years, Valeria has submitted messages whenever the spirit moves her and, because they’re always as meaningful as they are beautiful, we drop them all in our master Potential Passages Messages file and wait for just the right image to appear. We’ve published 12 messages authored by Valeria so far.

When we saw this fresh and fun honeymoonish image, we fell fast, and immediately proposed to Valeria that we marry it with her “love story” text. Her response: “I’m honored to see my message resonated and love the way it pairs with the photo you selected. Serendipitously, one of my friends is getting married this summer, and I would love to gift her this card for her wedding.”

Re the dedication, this romantic shared that she and her husband “are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year! So on the card back l’d like to say, ‘To Sean, our first decade together, and all the stories we’ve yet to beautifully write.’” 🥰

The love story Contributing Cardie Mary Morini and her husband Larry share has a few chapters on Valeria and Sean … the Morinis just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary!

The couple honors a wonderfully loving tradition of returning each year to the same seaside resort in which they spent their honeymoon. There, they renew their vows to each other, just the two of them. The “best promise” message is one that Mary sent us several years ago, and now you know why it rings so true: Because it is! We’ve now proudly published 23 cards authored by amazing retired HR exec Mary. 💃🏼

If you have a wedding coming up, you can peruse our 26 Wedding designs for one that best reflects your wishes for the happy couple. I just want to quick circle back to Susan’s daughter’s wedding for a second. At Cardthartic, we love going a bit above and beyond when we can — and Susan and I have been such close friends forever — so it was a pleasure to help bride Kat realize her vision of “Love is …” place cards for each of her 150 wedding guests.

Drawing on I Corinthians 13:4-8, Kathleen made sure that each guest found a card featuring one of the dozen sacred attributes at their place at the table. “The little cards were such a big hit,” Susan enthused (as Suzie is wont to do 😉). “The DJ actually choked up when telling the guests the cards reflect how important it is to Kathleen and Matthew that they live and love by 1st Corinthians. And then all those guests enjoyed great table conversations about what ‘their’ attribute meant to them.”

My old friend might sound cliche if she was not describing the very feeling every couple hopes their guests take away from their wedding. “What a wonderful, wonderful day.”
