February 3, 2023 – Slowing down, hanging loose, seeing the beauty all around. Sounds like a good weekend plan! Are you ready?! Marketing Director Jayme and I are so ready as we’ve just returned from Las Vegas Market. There, Cardthartic was one of thousands of card, gift, and home furnishings manufacturers from around the world showing their wares to thousands more store buyers. Market is where this year’s trends begin!

We did a way lot of walking and talking in the five million sq ft of showrooms and, for 20 of our hard-working sales reps, hosted a fun appreciation party complete with a masseuse giving foot rubs. We caught early morning flights home, spending the next eight hours making our way through crowded airports and being scrunched in plane seats. So we’re all for slowing down, hanging loose, seeing the beauty all around.

To get you moving in that direction, too, we thought we’d show you a few past Cardie Newsletter comments on taking good care of ourselves.

Rosemary Tolliver: Several years ago, at a Wise Woman seminar hosted by Carrie Newcomer, the singer/songwriter shared this wonderful practice: In a quiet moment, put your hand over your heart. Take a deep breath. Say something like, “Oh honey, you’re doing the best you can.” Take another deep breath. Say something like, “You’re okay.” Take another deep breath … and another while you affirm your hard-working self.

Candy Clausell: To sleep well every night, I try to stay focused on doing the best I can with every day. I realized long ago that we can’t solve every problem or injustice in the world. However, I take comfort in the hope that if we all do our best effort to solve our problems as well as those of others, we will have done our part to make the world a kinder place.

Susan Lyon:  I consciously pause to breathe, pray and listen to the sounds of life. I remind myself that it’s ok to ‘just be,’ for now at least.

Jan Boe: Your beach card spoke to me today as the wind chills have been in the -40s lately. From 1970-74, I went to college in little Bemidji, MN. The lake was across the street and out my dorm room window. Even in the bitter cold winter, the skies above were so gorgeous blue. I had a date who would pick me up with his snowmobile and across the frozen lake we’d go. We based our spring classes on “sun” time and wore our bathing suits under our clothes. Every so often, I still do the two-hour drive and, the closer I get, the more my shoulders relax. All’s well, all is well.

Laurie LeBlanc: When I’m beyond stressed, I focus on today. Just today. It takes away the other noise for a little bit while I refocus myself. So for today, sending you love and peace and hugs. (I send them every day but focus on today!

Who do you know that could use a smile? And, like our little sloth here, in what ways do you slow down, hang loose, see the beauty all around?
