AUG 8, 2018 – Aren’t those great words to live by!?! It was Cardie Peter Showell who submitted them to us and, coincidentally, we heard from two other Cardies who told us how it’s done …
Donna Hopkins emailed us to say, “I just returned from a trip with my husband to a gorgeous box of Cardthartic cards, completing a wonderful day! It was our 37th wedding anniversary, and we spent it visiting the site where we were married — a spot both of us visited many times growing up — George Washington’s birthplace in Virginia. It feels re-affirming to set our feet on that soil each and every year, and remind ourselves of the promises we made to each other all those years ago.” When we asked Donna for a pic of her with her husband, Dave, she sent us this “candid that our son captured of us in a playful moment. We love this little picture because it reflects the secret to our marriage: Laughter and lots of it!”
Donna’s story struck us as so charming, it brought to mind the anniversary story we’d heard from Cardie Mary Morini. “Each year for the past 39, we’ve gone to our favorite place on the Jersey Shore, where the attentive staff welcomes us back with an anniversary tray of chocolate-covered strawberries. We walk our beloved two-mile boardwalk, recounting the highlights of the past year and reflecting on our blessings. We have someone take a picture so we can update the one in our bedroom, and we listen to a recording of our wedding … unbeknownst to us, a kind custodian taped the mass and surprised us with it after the ceremony. To this day, we listen to that 70-minute tape on our anniversary.”
Closing in on 40 years, these Cardies clearly have it down: “Enjoy the minutes … and the days will be happy.” May we all live as merrily.
