ALT="Cardthartic magnet with runinculus flower and message, let your light shine brightly"Oct. 29, 2020 — This may sound a bit woo-woo, but it’s true … the world needs your light and warmth and goodness more than ever now.

Last evening, I was feeling so sad and dismayed by the soaring numbers and discord that, by nine, I thought I’d quick grab my mail and call it a day. And what did I find in my mailbox?! A slew of Cardie wishes for Hannlis’ 97th birthday.

In past years I’ve held all cards until November 4th, but this year I thought she could use a daily dose of Cardie kindness, so we’ve been opening them up right away. I wish you could see for yourself her reaction to your thoughtfulness. “The cards are nice” H said, as she took her letter opener to another few, “but it’s what the Cardies themselves write that make them so special — the warm and caring things they say, and it’s especially fun when they share something about themselves. Please say thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Rather than wait until after her birthday, our crew wanted to share this with you now because (a) we thought a few more of you may want to get in on this or, as clever Cardie Paige Baker put it, “Thanks for inviting us to H’s Card Party!” and (b) we thought it would feel good about now to be reminded of just how big-hearted Cardies are.

It’s amazing, really, that so many of you would devote your valuable time to spending your own money on a card that it’s clear you chose with care and then filled with your own great personality, all to acknowledge an elder you’ve never met and likely never will. What beautiful, bright light you shine! Thank you.

Below you’ll see a small sampling of the cards H has received so far, along with a peek at what Cardies wrote inside. How uplifting it is to read how simply eloquent you are! If you would enjoy sending your own card, here’s the address again:
