Nov 10, 2023 — Ever the editors, we’re going to hereby revise this birthday card message (just for today!) to, “Try spoiling yourself this weekend!” Especially with the days growing darker earlier, we could all use some rest, wouldn’t you say?

In a recent Cardie Yoga, instructor Paola dedicated most of the class to heart-opening poses. “I sense we need this,” she said. “People seem to be feeling more or less disconnected these days. We’re not feeling seen, we’re not feeling heard. It’s hard to watch the news. Let’s take time today to open our hearts to understanding and acceptance. And when class ends, we’ll take our open hearts out into the world.”

Below we share a few more ways that Cardies say they self-soothe sans pancakes!

Carol Jones:  Sometimes it’s wise to slow down, look around, and see the beauty of the day.

Candy Clausell: To sleep well every night, I try to stay focused on doing the best I can with every day. I realized long ago that we can’t solve every problem or injustice in the world. However, I take comfort in the hope that if we all do our best effort to solve our problems as well as those of others, we will have done our part to make the world a kinder place.

Donna Cochran: I no longer watch the news. Surprisingly, I still know what’s going on!  I am spared, though, all the graphic details. The three-minute CBS Evening News segment On the Road with Steve Hartman is my program. He does ‘good news’ right.

Judy Sherman: I find it hard to be stressed or depressed when I am counting my blessings. So, if I ever have trouble getting to sleep, I think of five blessings from that day. It can be something small, like finding the perfect parking place, or getting a Cardthartic card in the mail. I am always asleep before I get to #5. :)

Carrie Wolfgang: Practice all the things we preach to others to maintain their health, strength, and humanity!” 🧚🏽‍♀️

Deep breaths and lots of syrup. Here’s to filling back up this weekend.
