July 6, 2022 — Yesterday, everyone on our crew seemed to be feeling a little down (aka blah, glum, poopie, blasé) if you know what I mean. It would be easy to chalk it up to “back to work after three free days.” Designer Brandon thought it may be our sad reaction to the weekend’s tragedies. CEO Ana countered that perhaps people are now growing so accustomed to such news that we’re feeling increasingly numb. 😞

Then the Fairy Cardmother who looks out for Amy Davis forwarded the message this kind Cardie had included when she placed an order online. “As I watched the fireworks tonight, I was thinking of Hannlis. I hope she smiled at the show all around her!”

Wow. I wrote Amy back to say, “How it lifted all our spirits to know that good people like you are out there thinking such dear thoughts and then so lovingly sharing them. Thanks for thinking of us, Amy!”

Her thoughtfulness and delightful message made me think of our new gnome card’s inside text, “You’re like my own cheery, slightly mischievous gnome (minus the beard and pointy head)! Thank you for making the world a little more magical.” 🧚🏼‍♂️

Then in popped an email from Contributing Cardie Gloria Dougherty.

“This image of a daddy Downy Woodpecker feeding his fledgling daughter was taken by my friend Deb Ford, an excellent birder and photographer. When my husband Ron saw the photo he said, ‘Wouldn’t this make a great Father’s Day card?’ Ha! I said I know just who to ask! Whatever you decide, enjoy.”

As the day was coming to a close, we read an email from Contributing Cardie Teresa Bender asking about my Ukrainian friend

and now great helper. “Has Luda’s daughter been allowed to leave Russia?” was Teresa’s message. “We have many people praying for her as what a worry it must be. May your week unfold serenely.” How lovely and thoughtful was that!?

This is all to say, I sense the Universe is nudging me to better appreciate what a difference a simple thinking of you makes some days. 🤔 If you’d like to share your own story of how a particular thinking of you made your day — or how a card you sent turned someone’s day around — please do. The world could use a few more gnomes and their magic!
