May 25, 2021 — Where on Earth would any of us be without the USPS!?! A Cardie without a postal service is like an envelope without a stamp!

If you have not read it, here is Postmaster General DeJoy’s 10-Year Plan. And the American Postal Workers Union’s perspective on that plan. Bottom line, critics are concerned that the Postmaster General’s plan for growth and sustainability will actually slow the US mail even further, offer less services, and close many of our local post office branches.

Currently, this proposal is just a proposal. The public comment period is open now through June 22nd, 2021, meaning we have less than a month to let the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) know we care about the future of the Postal Service. Let’s make our feelings known by sending our free Please Listen and Act Now postcards with the simple message:

“Please fund the Postal Service’s investment
in the people and processes needed to improve
and expand. We count on the USPS!”

Because Cardie Judy Gibson has a depth of experience writing legislators on a variety of national issues, we reached out to her. You can read all about Judy in her Cardie Profile; for now, we’ll say Judy serves as spokesperson for a non-partisan activist group that named itself The Way Forward. “Now 150 strong, The Way Forward members study, organize, and write, write, write,” Judy explained.

The group has used an abundance of Cardthartic’s FREE Please Listen postcards over the years. “We’ve learned that legislators really do want to hear from their constituents,” Judy says. “As we write, we imagine the scene being repeated all over the country, those bright red postcards carrying messages to town councils, school boards, state legislators, members of Congress!!” she says, “Connection, collaboration, sharing responsibility – that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?”

Express Yourself!

Based on tips from Judy, here is how to share your views with lawmakers:

  1. Order as many postcards as you’ll possibly send to the Postal Regulatory Commission and lawmakers. Here you can find your own legislators’ addresses.

  2. Write your message. Something as simple as: “Please fund the Postal Service’s investment in the people and processes needed to improve and expand. We count on the USPS!”

  3. Include your name and address, otherwise, the postcard will be disregarded

  4. Address and mail your postcards TO ARRIVE BY JUNE 22, 2021.
