“I first learned about Cardthartic in a seminar on using photography for greeting cards presented by Pacific Northwest pro photographer Ray Pfortner, and there are two Cardthartic display racks at my favorite local card store, the wonderful Northwest Art and Frame in Seattle, Washington. I felt so much empathy in the inspirational and sympathy cards.  I found them so beautiful and perfect.

After 25 years, I’m winding down my healthcare IT consulting business to move into creative pursuits. I’m a nature and travel photographer, so most any card depicting an aspect of the outdoors or a cultural theme captures my interest. The images that tell a story or paint a moment are my favorites. And this is what I strive for in my photography.

“At this point in my life, I’m all about realizing my creative self. There are drafts and outlines of several children’s books in the works as well as photography ideas and now greeting cards. What I learned about myself through consulting is that life is a constant balance between scope and timing as I harness my natural inclination to dabble in everything!

“In a world full of competition for visual and information attention, I find a beautiful, soft-spoken card is so much more meaningful to the fortunate person who receives it. To me, Cardthartic products really sing; the warm simplicity of the art and prose resonate quickly and the white space makes them look classy yet understated. This differentiates Cardthartic from so many other card makers and shows that one doesn’t need to be showy or ‘in your face’ to connect with people.

“I also find Cardthartic cards kind, clever and universal. The prose is so well-matched with the art. I’d like to try my hand at both as I tend to think of the messages that I’m conveying when I choose the photographs that speak to me. You’ve created a really warm and unique culture at Cardthartic. It’s like you’ve cultivated this beautiful organic garden where all kinds of seeds can grow to spread healthy goodness out there.  And it shows in your cards.”
