While her proper name is Marguerite, this spitfire has just always gone by Reet. Before retiring in 2020, she served admirably as Cardthartic’s Customer Care and then Sales Manager for nearly 15 years, taking good care of all concerned while having a great time in the process.
Because Reet’s so sentimental, she could always be counted on to tell a great love story, and this one helps explain why she was so crazy about the card business. “My late mother and her friend ‘Aunt Billie’ were born two weeks apart and, somewhere along the line, started the fun tradition of sending each other the same birthday card back and forth. Two best buddies sending the same card between them for nearly 20 years.
“I got such a kick out of seeing the little penned messages that each year they added to the card, the available space getting smaller and smaller. Of course, it was never about that dear old card. It was about what they had to say to each other that always touched and tickled me. Even I could not wait for Mom’s birthday to come so I could read what Aunt Billie had to say in The Card.
“Mom passed a year before Aunt Billie, so I was able to send their card one last time. Aunt Billie was thrilled and so was I.”
I enjoyed reading about you Reet; my mother’s name was Juanita but she was always known as Neet. I 💕 all the cards dedicated to you. I came to sign up for the Cardthartic newsletter because I received a pet sympathy card today and the picture used was taken in Grand de Tour about 30-40 miles from Sterling where my family still lives. Very familiar with Northern Illinois. I look forward to buying many cards on website or at Shorty’s Nursery in Vancouver WA close to where I live. Have a blessed day! 🥰
