Judy began ordering here on our site in 2014 and, as we welcome Cardies to do, began thoughtfully making her feelings known.

“Even as a child, I was a true introvert and an aspiring writer,” she wrote. “I still prefer writing emails to having phone conversations, and sending cards is my preferred method of communication. When I discovered Cardthartic, what an amazing day that was!  The cards are so perfect for every occasion that I find myself spending hundreds of dollars indulging my passion!  (You know you’re a Cardie when … you realize you do not even want to know how many hundreds of dollars you have just spent!!! :)

She closed with, “Thank you, Cardthartic, for knowing just what to say (and also for keeping the price affordable for an old retired card and bookaholic like me!)”

On Mother’s Day 2019 she emailed, “I appreciate you so much! And I have one suggestion: Come up with a card for folks who may be grieving the loss of their Mom. My favorite cousin died two months ago and I know that her son, though grown and long since on his own in the world, will be having a hard time today. Just a thought!”

In April of 2020, she kindly wrote, “As one of your faithful Cardies, I so appreciate your keeping in touch during these strange times. One thought I have had for a while: Could we get a card that inside simply says, “I am so proud of you!” It could be sent for many occasions and I would love to send it to my son. For more than 20 years, Brian has tirelessly cared for his wife who, I’m so sorry to say, has been in excruciating pain. Her parents live with them and care for her while he is at his extremely stressful job. He never has a word of complaint. If there is any way to create such a card, I would be eternally grateful!”

Over the years, Judy submitted potential card messages, too. Finally, in the fall of 2022, the stars aligned and we found an image that we felt lived up to her words. “I love this!” she proclaimed when we sent the proposed design to her for approval. “The card is perfect and I am so excited! As for a dedication, let me give you a little background: My daughter-in-law’s back was broken in a car accident in college. She’s had many surgeries in the years since, but continues to live with extreme levels of pain. Because I wrote this for her, my dedication would be, ‘To honor my daughter, Tammy Teer,’ if that’s ok. I would say daughter instead of daughter-in-law, please.”

We replied, “Forgive us if we’re over-stepping here, Judy: Looking at your photo with Brian made us think how very hard it must be for him to watch this woman he loves suffer so. And we sense that many of your prayers are for him as well. If this rings true, we could make the dedication, “Written with love for her daughter, Tammy Teer, and their Brian.” Judy whole-heartedly agreed.

We printed her message on a lovely magnet, too. When she received her first card samples, she wrote, “Everyone I have shown the card to is SPEECHLESS!!!  It is such a thrill and an honor. 😊 I am traveling to hand-deliver the card to Tammy! I want to see her face when she sees it for the first time! I hope she will feel as loved as she is.”

Judy returned from that trip and emailed, “I am writing to tell you about my trip to Virginia Beach and how much Tammy loved our card.  She cried!  She, Brian and her parents were absolutely overwhelmed and all loved our card so much! While I was there, Tammy was able to get out one day and  just wanted to see the ocean, so Brian drove us down there and pushed her wheelchair onto the boardwalk.

“Thanks again for EVERYTHING. By publishing my message for Tammy, you made all of us so happy and gave us a priceless gift!”
