Amparo’s strong faith and her precocious granddaughter Veronica are great friends and sources of inspiration for our founder Jodee. The prayer is powerful card was inspired by Amparo.
Living in neighboring buildings on Miami Beach, Amparo and Veronica often join Jodee for an early dinner Friday nights, which is how Jodee learned from Veronica that there are few things more soothing than having your hair brushed and brushed and brushed (sweet treatments that were sorely missed during lockdown).
Amparo tag-teams with her daughter Beatriz and son-in-law Tony to always give Veronica the best of themselves. Jodee picked up stuffed animal Gaston and his book by the same name in Spanish at the Miami Book Fair thinking it would be fun for bilingual Veronica to read with her abuela. During a zoom call with her class, V reported that “Gaston is my favorite and came with a book I got for my birthday from my grandma’s really nice friend, Jodee.”
Amparo’s take is that, “While the nation struggles with how to best protect our kids in their classrooms, the kids seem to be, well, being the lovable kids they are. Since Veronica’s school went virtual and she couldn’t have a real study buddy for so long, Gaston was it, and did a very good job.”
