Days after the tragic October 7, 2023, attack on Israel’s kibbutz communities, our Cardie Newsletter read, “We know peace in the world will not be achieved by scribbling a few kind words in a card, but we must believe that the little things we do with love — and the big hopes and dreams we hold for each other and our world — do make a difference. Rather than throwing up our hands and declaring mankind the mess it is, let’s keep intently doing the most loving things that we are able.”
Barri immediately responded with, “Thanks for the kind words. They landed softly on my heavy heart.” Her message was so gentle and lovely — particularly in the face of such evil — that we emailed her right back. “Your own kind words so touched us that we found an image that we hope lives up to them, Barri, and that you’ll allow us to publish them on a card, dedicated to whomever you wish.”
Her reply read, “I can’t tell you how my heart welled up reading your email. Things are so chaotic in the world and your response was such a gift. I’m truly touched that you would want to make my words into a card. Of course, you have my permission,” she said. “As for the dedication, I am currently working on a post-master’s certificate in expressive arts therapy and would like to dedicate the card to my program: Expressive Arts Florida Institute. They are just incredible humans. Love and kindness will heal this world. 🕊️”
