I grew up in the time when there was no other way to really keep in touch with anyone outside of town except by writing a note. Of course, if you received a gift, a note had to be written–many times it had to be done before a gift was used!! I have continued to write letters, send cards and even write postcards to friends from all over the world.
I am amazed at how touched people are to actually receive a card, whether it is for a special reason or for “just thinking about you”. I am a pen pal now with my mom’s 98 year old cousin (the last of her generation) and she loves the cards that I send to her from Cardthartic!! Who among us is not pleased to go to our mailbox and find a personal note written on a wonderful card mixed in with the many catalogs that seem to be the bulk of our mail now?
I discovered Cardthartic from a friend who writes even more than I do. She sent me several Cardthartic cards and I LOVED them. I now live in a small town with few stores (the ones that we do have are adorable), but none carry these cards, so I have started ordering cards online.
Trying to pick a favorite card would be very difficult as they all move me! I love the cards that are exercise and activity related — yoga, hiking, camping, biking — because my entire extended family is very active. I can always find one to fit the occasion. BUT … then I love the cards that are associated with food and drink, too. My son who is an athlete loved the birthday beer card. He told me that I had really picked a winner by sending that card! You know you’re a Cardie when you can’t decide which cards to buy, so you buy a huge variety to have on hand … just in case!!!
