As my husband can tell you, I can come out of a store with 25 cards and go to the next store and get 25 more. Most people have a card box, I have three and they are all full! When I walked into the Cubby Hole in Charlotte, NC, and saw they had a new display of Cardthartic cards, I loved every one I picked up. I could think of someone for every card!

For example, because I have spent most of my professional life as an RN working with people with addiction issues — and many people get into recovery using the 12 Steps of AA — I really love the “Step by Step” card. This is the perfect card to send to someone who is struggling. Recently, a best friend died from cancer, so I have been sending his wife a card every few days. The one I sent yesterday said, “No more battling or fighting, just peace.” Your cards are simply the best.

I placed my first online order after I returned to Southern Nest in Indian Land, SC, to get more of the Gratitude Journal cards and found that they had not yet ordered more. I thought, “Well, I need to find them somewhere!” which led me to go online looking for y’all. Imagine my surprise when I received my order and there was a note from my Fairy Cardmother and a cute magnet of a dog saying “There’s got to be some chocolate in here somewhere.” It was perfect because we are avid rescue dog lovers and currently have two.

One of my favorite cards is the Rocking Chair because it’s perfect for the group of friends I went to church camp with. From 6th-12th grade, we were best friends — and then came college, weddings, kids — and while I still sent them cards for birthdays and anniversaries, we had not seen each other for 25 years. Leading up to that 25th anniversary, I wrote each of them about returning to the church camp for a little reunion. They all thought it was a great idea. We had a wonderful time, and now get together every other year at a different location. One evening during the initial reunion, they all remarked that, if it hadn’t been for me keeping in touch with them all those years, the reunion would never have happened.

Especially in this day and time when people are feeling so disconnected and isolated, cards say, “Someone is thinking about me! I am special to that person.” And Cardthartic cards have such perfect messages that sometimes I don’t write anything more than, “This card made me think of you.” It was very gratifying recently to hear from a friend, “I was having an awful time and walked out to the mailbox and there sat your card. It was like you knew I needed a friend and, even though you were miles away, there you were!”
